The Federal Government of Pakistan has silently imposed a new 14% tax on internet services in Pakistan, including both wireless as well as wireline internet connections. The IT industries, stakeholders and all Pakistanis were thankful to Punjab government for revoking 19.5% General Sales Tax (GST) from internet usage in Punjab. Meanwhile, Federal Government of Pakistan gave this wonderful surprise to them.

Details:

On 29th June, 2015, the members of National Assembly suggested 14% Withholding Tax (WHT) on internet services that was approved by the President of Pakistan. Since 1st July, 2015, this new tax became effective. This is the reason why, all mobile network companies of Pakistan are increasing their 3G tariff plans as per the new tax.
